This is your chance to unwind and relax, but that doesn’t mean you don’t get to have fun too! Our Tofino yoga retreat is the perfect balance of nourishing yoga and wellness mixed with an unforgettable week of essential Vancouver Island experiences.

Ride a boat deep into the ocean wilderness, searching for sea lions and whales and then soaking in a pristine set of natural hot springs right on the edge of the ocean! There is no better way to ground yourself on this Tofino yoga retreat than to soak in the healing mineral waters that flow from the depths of the earth, cascading down a waterfall and into a series of hot pools for you to soak your muscles in. As they say, the journey is half the reward and this is very true here, as you walk through a beautiful old growth forest deep in Ahousaht First Nations traditional territory to access the remote hot springs. Soaking in the hot springs also supports the Ahousaht, helping them sustain their way of life in Clayoquot Sound.

During the second full day of your Tofino wellness retreat, we head out as a group on a special guided foraging walk. Here you will spend time with a local foraging expert learning about the local flora and how it has been traditionally used and continues to be a vital food source to this day. We collect a feast of wild delicacies that are in season, ranging from berries and mushrooms to seaweeds and shellfish. This is one of the most amazing and genuine experiences in Tofino, where you not only learn a ton but also spend some quality time slowing down in the lush forests to really notice the small things. Rather than marching through on a quick hike, we deliberately slow down, noticing the miraculous formations of each plant, the smell of the mosses and the sound of the wind teasing the treetops. Consider this a gourmet version of forest bathing! And best of all, we bring our goodies back to the beach and cook up a delicious meal, accompanied by a salmon barbeque. How’s that for farm to table?!

During the final full day of your Tofino yoga and wellness week, we rent e-bikes and set off on one of the best beach hopping adventures in the world! From Tofino, we venture south on the newly built Legacy Trail, connecting Tofino and Ucluelet. The ride is easy and beginner friendly and the e-bikes do the heavy lifting for you as we wind through the coastal forest path leading us to the best beaches of the west coast. Along the way we stop and explore each of the main beaches, taking time to soak in the views and visiting the many hidden gems. When we get to the quaint seaside town of Ucluelet (locally “Ukee”), we fuel up at one of the best coffee shops in town before our ride back to Tofino.

One of the main attractions of this Tofino yoga retreat is our accommodation! We stay right on Mackenzie Beach with ocean view rooms, where we are easily able to stroll down to the ocean’s edge and soak in the famous Pacific sunsets. Relax around a beach fire and soak in the hot tub under the dazzling milky way. If we are lucky, we can swim in the ocean when it’s dark and be surrounded in glowing bioluminescence. There is probably nothing that beats the awe you feel swimming in a whirling glow with a million stars far above you!

West Coast Wellness Retreat Itinerary

  • We pick you up from a central hotel in Victoria, or the Victoria Airport before kicking off our Tofino yoga retreat with a scenic drive across the island to Tofino. Along the way we stop at several essential attractions on Vancouver Island, like Cathedral Grove, and then head out for a guided walk when we arrive in Tofino. Stretch your legs and immerse yourself in the lush coastal rain forest, as we wander below ancient trees with hanging gardens and babbling streams that are home to the spawning salmon.

    We get settled into our Tofino beachfront hotel, the Tin Wis Resort, meeting for dinner as a group. In the evening we head down to the beach and warm up with a gentle, relaxing yoga session in the warm glow of the pacific sunset. Go to bed feeling relaxed and excited for the days to come on your retreat.

  • Wake up on the second day of your West Coast Wellness Retreat Package and head down to the beach for an awakening morning yoga session. Sync your breathing to the rhythm of the ocean waves as they ebb and flow on the beach. After our yoga practice, we grab breakfast at the hotel cafe and fuel up for our big day of adventure. We pick up our rental e-bikes and head out on a fun filled beach hopping adventure, riding the Legacy Trail between Tofino and Ucluelet. Along the way we pass the best beaches on the entire west coast, stopping at each to admire the views, take photos and go for a stroll. We wind our way down to the quaint seaside town of Ukee, fuel up at one of the best coffee shops on the coast. With energy restored and some caffeine to help, we ride back to Tofino for some relaxing time on the beach. After a group dinner at a local restaurant, you have the evening to relax, soaking in the beachfront hot tub under the starry night sky, or hanging out with your new friends around a beach fire. This is west coast living at its best!

    Activity: Morning Yoga, Full Day Beach Hopping by E-Bike Adventure

  • After breakfast we head out for our full-day ocean excursion to hot springs cove. The adventure starts off with a 1.5 hour scenic boat ride through some of the most gorgeous ocean wilderness on the planet, with opportunities abound to spot seals, sea lions, bald eagles and even bears!

    As we arrive at hot springs cove, we walk roughly 40 minutes along a beautiful boardwalk, passing through an untouched old growth forest, and winding below massive cedar trees that have supported the local First Nations for thousands of years. When you see the hot springs, you may not believe the fairytale spectacle in front of your eyes. Hot water flows in a steamy stream through the mossy forest floor, cascading down a rockwall into a series of perfect rock pools waiting for you to soak in them. At the end of the natural pools, the hot water pours into the ocean, where you can cool off if you desire.

    In the evening we gather on the beach for another relaxing sunset yoga practice and hot tub soak!

  • Welcome the day with a morning yoga session on the beach, followed by a relaxing breakfast and some delicious coffee. Today you have the morning off to rest, or opt to rent a paddleboard or try a surf lesson! You can paddleboard right off the beach in front of our hotel and we dare you to try some yoga poses while balancing on the board. SUP yoga is fun, and a challenge to your form, requiring you to move deliberately and stay balanced. If you prefer a surf lesson, you will head to one of the local beaches to meet your instructor and spend a couple hours mastering the waves (or at least getting a good rinse).

    In the afternoon we reconvene and head out for our guided foraging walk, venturing into the coastal rain forest and learning about the abundant edible and medicinal plants that exist here. Depending on what’s in season, we may gather mushrooms, berries, various herbs, shellfish and even seaweeds!

    Best of all, your guide will be cooking up a feast for you on the beach tonight, and the special ingredients you gather on your foraging walk will be part of your meal!

  • Today we enjoy another yoga session to start the day off on the right foot (so to speak), and then pack up and check out of our hotel. We begin our journey back towards Victoria, but that doesn’t mean the fun is over!

    Along the way we stop at a few amazing places, depending on the time of year, to either witness the salmon run, or to see a couple of incredible waterfalls deep in a valley in the center of the island.

    We aim to drop you off by 4 pm in Victoria, but please expect to be dropped off between 4-6 pm, either downtown or at the airport.

  • This adventure retreat is suitable for anyone between 16-80 years of age who would like an adventure experience in Tofino while also keeping a focus on health and wellbeing.

    Yoga

    Our approach to yoga is to provide high quality yoga classes that are fairly general and beginner friendly. They are also optional if you prefer to relax instead.

    Our yoga classes are a general Hatha Yoga, with a focus on body movement and relaxation. Typical evening yoga practices are slower and focused on slowing down and relaxing the body, while morning yoga sessions are a little more active with a focus on awakening the body and mind and preparing you for the day’s adventures.

    Activities

    The hikes on this tour are short and generally not challenging. Expect to walk 2-5 kilometers, over the course of 1-2 hours at a moderate pace. Just enough activity to get your heart rate up but not enough to put you out of breath.

    We do recommend being able to ride a bike on this tour, for the e-bike beach hopping adventure, but being a beginner cyclist would be absolutely fine.

  • Our retreat and tour groups are known for being open and welcoming groups of travelers from around the world who share a sense of adventure. This retreat is perfect for you if you:

    • Are open to meeting new people and sharing this experience with them

    • Are a solo traveler, couple, family or small group of friends

    • Don’t mind having one or two drinks but aren’t looking to party

  • Tour Pick Up:

    We pick you up on day 1 starting at the Victoria Airport at 10 am, and then at the Marriott Inner Harbor Hotel at 10:30 am.

    You can fly in anytime before 9 am on day 1 in order to make the pick up time, though we do recommend flying in the night before to ensure your flight isn’t delayed.

    Staying In Victoria Overnight:

    If you do fly in the night before the tour, we recommend staying at the Marriott Inner Harbor Hotel and can help reserve a room for you there.

    You can also stay at a nearby hotel and travel to the Marriott Inner Harbor Hotel in the morning to meet your retreat leader.

    Getting From Victoria Airport To Downtown Victoria:

    Victoria Airport has limited shuttle options, so your best bet is using an airport taxi which is typically around $60.

  • The weather on the West Coast is typically very pleasant when we plan our retreats, though being the West Coast, there can be periods of rain, which help keep the forest to green!

    Here is a typical retreat:

    • Rain on 1-2 of the days, usually for 1-2 hours of the day

    • Some fog rolling in off the ocean in the mornings and evenings while the sun is not as strong

    • 10-20 degrees Celsius (50-70 degrees Fahrenheit)

    • Light to no wind
