Our guides won the “Guides of the Year” award in 2018 and soon you will see why! We stay in a hotel along the Icefields Parkway, in Golden and in Banff. With these places to call home, we get a chance to be in the quiet wilderness, a rustic mountain town, and an iconic tourism destination in Canada. During the evenings of your hiking tour, you can dine as a group, sharing stories with your new friends from around the world, or opt to take a breather and head out on your own. Don’t forget your bathing suit for a visit to the historic healing waters of Upper Sulphur Mountain hot springs! During this adventure your guides will share their wealth of local knowledge on the edible and medicinal plants, geology, battle between rock and ice and the legends of the indigenous and pioneering peoples that settled this land.

+ Day By Day Itinerary
Day 1- To The Mountains! - We pick you up from your downtown Calgary Hotel, or the Marrriott Downtown Hotel if you are flying in today. Pickup is between 3:30 and 4 pm. Once we have met everyone we head West 1.5 hours into the mountains that are visible from Calgary. Watch the dramatic changes as the landscape goes from prairies to towering peaks in a span of 15 minutes. We get you checked into your hotel and then walk down the street for our first dinner as a group. During dinner we talk about the coming days and what to expect during your hiking tour in Banff.
Day 2- Pioneers and Swiss Mountaineers - After a complimentary breakfast at the hotel we hop in the van and head 45 minutes North to world famous Lake Louise. Once you have taken too many photos of the soft morning light on Victoria Glacier, we begin up our trail for the day. We will be hiking up to Lake Agnes Teahouse, and then where most people would turn around, we continue around the lake and on top of Big Beehive, for a jaw dropping bird's eye view of Lake Louise. Continue along the Highline Connector, taking us to Plain of Six Glaciers Teahouse, where you will be rewarded with up close and personal views of the glaciers hanging on the cliffs all around us. If we are lucky, the morning sun will warm the ice up, causing massive chunks of ice to tumble down the mountain with a thundering roar, a safe distance away but close enough to feel the reverberations beneath your feet. Enjoy a tea at the tea house while your guide fills you in on the stories of early Swiss mountaineers that influenced life in these mountains. If you are lucky, you may even feast on some Swiss Fondue to make the moment extra special (and tasty). After a dinner in town we head as a group to the soothing waters of Banff's Sulphur Mountain Hot Springs. These are the same hot springs that first attracted the railway officials to this area, resulting in a national conservation effort and bringing Western Canada's first tourists. These are also the same waters that the local indigenous tribes have been travelling to and healing in the therapeutic water for thousands of years.
Day 3- Best of Banff - Today we head out for one of the most scenic hikes in the Banff area. Usually this would be Cory Pass or Alymer Pass, where your hard work is rewarded with stunning views of Lake Minnewanka, or Banff far below your feet. Cory Pass is really cool because you feel like an ant, walking right beside two thousand foot high cliffs on either side of you! After the hike we head back into town and have a delicious dinner as a group and in the evening you have the choice of free time to relax, or to go for a evening stroll through Johnston Canyon. Johnston Canyon is crawling with crowds by day, but with our unique idea of a night walk, you will be virtually alone in the canyon, learning about how the water has eroded the rock over the past ten thousand years and getting up close and personal with a waterfall.
Day 4- Moraine Lake and Beyond!!! - Wake up bright and early so we can get to Moraine Lake in time to photograph the morning light that bathes the Valley of Ten Peaks in a soft glow. Once you have feasted your eyes on the impossibly blue waters with the peaks towering all around, we head up our trail bound for Eiffel Lake or Sentinel Pass. From Eiffel Lake you can opt to hike just a bit further to Wenkchemma Pass, where you can place one foot in British Columbia and one foot in Alberta. From Sentinel Pass you can capture the Instagram photo of a lifetime, while looking down into Larch Valley and Paradise Valley at the same time. Both hikes are so incredible, the hardest part of being a guide is choosing which one to do! After our guided hike we continue on to Golden, where we stay for the next 3 nights.
Day 5- In Awe in Yoho - Did you know that Yoho is an indigenous term for the feeling of awe? Well today we will prove that to you on a guided tour of Yoho National Park. We start off by hiking one of two amazing trails: Paget Lookout to a historic fire lookout with “fire lookout worthy” views, or Iceline Trail, walking directly beside a glacier and gazing out at a massive waterfall across the valley. After the guided hike, relax and enjoy some of the bucketlist attractions of the park, like Takakaaw Falls (Canada's second highest waterfall), and Emerald Lake (one of Canada's most beautiful lakes).
Day 6- Best For Last! - Spend the last full day of your guided hiking tour in Banff and Yoho on a truly spectacular hike in Yoho National Park, which is a huge expanse of untamed wilderness. With your guides you will be hiking the Iceline Trail, or Hamilton Lake Trail. From here you will be completely in the heart of the mountains, likely without a single person for several kilometres and surrounded by alpine meadows covered in alpine flowers. After we return to civilization you can have a soak in the hot tub and then we head out on the town for our final group dinner and this one is on us!
Day 7- Canyons, Pictographs and Calgary - Today we pack up and check out of the hotel. On the way back to Calgary we have one more amazing stop in store for you, which is Grotto Canyon. We hike 1.5 kilometres up this slot canyon with walls towering on either side of us, stopping to see a set of pictographs left by an indigenous tribe over 1300 years ago. Next we pass through the rock garden, where there are mysterious scenes of rocks piled elaborately on top of each other in a timeless balancing act, then check out a waterfall and a perplexing cave feature before heading back to the van and on to Calgary. We can drop you off at any hotel in Banff, Calgary, or the airport by roughly 2 pm.
